All the Little Shops

Some towns are perfect to get lost in. Now I don’t mean that some towns are easy to get lost in, I mean that they’re perfectly enjoyable to wander around aimlessly in. Laguna Beach is one of those towns. Here’s what you have in store during your Laguna Beach vacation.

Because Laguna Beach is a small coastal town built into the hills, we don’t have much for big open spaces, other than our beach. This is a good thing because we know that Walmart is never going to be able to build a super center here. We don’t even have the space for the parking lot they would need. Anyway, because of this, we have a lot of small mom and pop shops. We like that! We have everything from small cafes and coffee houses, to clothing boutiques, to eclectic art galleries. Much to look at, many friendly shop keepers to talk with, and all within walking distance from your Laguna Beach hotel.

While the best plan is to just walk in whatever direction your nose happens to be pointing in and stop at the first bright shiny thing that grabs your attention, I’ll tell you about a great place to start and get some food. I like the Garden Cafe at Madison Square (pictured above). It’s all outdoor seating in their gardens, with little trinkets and fountains everywhere. Local legend says that a quarter left face up in the inside of the purple teacup with yellow polka dots will give you good luck for the remainder of the day. Just remember who told you about it if you happen to win the lottery.
