  • In addition to my Health in Balance experience part of my custom health package was a private yoga session with Dava Schatz at Ritual Yoga Arts Studio in Laguna Beach. Just a few blocks away from The Retreat In Laguna,  this yoga studio is an easy walk. The studio itself is also an art gallery with each space featuring paintings and sculptures.

  • We had a great time ....we loved everything about the Retreat...the staff was great, the view of the ocean and the sound of the waves was so relaxing. What a beautiful place to stay and relax! We can't wait to go back. We stayed there and went to Disneyland for three days...was a very short drive ....made it a convenient place to stay! – Nancy Sims
  • My Schmoopie popped the question here and it was hands down the most romantic experience of my life. The Retreat took care of all of the little details and filled the room with fresh flowers, millions of candles and the champagne was on ice of course. The went so far as to strategically place a book of love poems and another of love letters on the coffee table for us- the effort was amazing. Even despite all the extras the villa on it's own is fantastic with all the comforts of home and right on the beach! We have already booked for next year and plan to make this an annual tradition. Your money is well spent here and I simply can not say enough about the experience the Retreat offers....simply unforgettable.

  • We had our intimate wedding ceremony outside on the deck of The Retreat with the reception to follow. It was gorgeous -the sound of the waves, the setting sun, and the sand a few steps away. We stayed in one of the Villas, Infinity, which was luxurious and fully loaded with everything we could want. You can't beat the view. Would definitely recommend for a getaway or small gathering.

  • These units are perfectly located just south of downtown, walking distance to downtown and Main Beach, and a half block from a free shuttle stop if one wants to go to the Art Fair. Several flights of stairs takes you down to the beach where you can join boogie boarders, surfers, and loungers. The Retreat provides boogie boards, chairs, umbrellas, and childerns' sand toys for guests.
One of the best features of the Retreat is the spacious deck overlooking the beach. Several of the units having private decks or patios, but we stayed in a unit without one. We were disapppointed at first that our unit didn't have a deck or a view, but we found that the common deck was perfect for our needs -- it has comfy chairs and several tables. We loved sitting on this deck in the mornings and late afternoons and watching the surf, the surfers, and the boogie boarders.
We stayed in the Villa Rustica, one of the smallest units. When we walked in, we were a bit nervous about how small it is (for three people), but it turned out to be fine. We really appreciated the TV's in both the bedroom and in the main room. The beds were comfy, even the futon sleeper in the main room.
In a place where parking is a premium, it isgreat that the Retreat has free parking spaces for guests. Parking is tight, so it's best to park the car and walk or take the shuttle where you need to go. Also nice is the fact that Ralph's is just accross HWY 1 from the Retreat.
Villa Rustica is one of three units that have windows facing the alley. Even with a wedding happening across the alley on one of the evening we were there, we weren't kept awake.
All in all, I really loved the Retreat. I would definitely return there!

  • I stayed at The Retreat in Laguna at the end of September and had a wonderful time. I stayed in the Villa Da Vinci. It had a fireplace, 1.5 baths, plenty of storage space as I always over pack, a very comfy bed, and a great balcony. When I booked the villa I was told about a roofline that the villa would look out over. It makes up less than one third the view and you can still see plenty of blue ocean on the horizon past the roof. This was not unexpected in Laguna and I could see the view in one of the pictures on their website. To the south you can see beach, white water and blue ocean. To the north, you can see all the way down to main beach. There was an exit toward the beach side of the property that was very close to the steps to the beach which was very convenient. I could even hear the surf at night in the bedroom with the doors and windows closed. This villa had great airflow, plenty of windows, and felt very private. I did not need the fans or A/C. The staff was very nice and responsive when I had questions. I parked the car when I arrived and did not use the car for the entire week as the property is right in town. I took advantage of the gym membership and that worked out quite well. The owner visited one day to the property, so it is good to see he keeps invested in his property. I did not have any parking issues. The property has 8 units, and when I arrived, a staff member greeted me and informed me how to best maximize the parking. I would recommend this property and stay there again in the same villa.

  • The Perfect Laguna Beach Get-a-Way

My husband and I both work for ourselves and will take work retreats from time to time. The weather was absolutely beautiful and thought what better than vacation villas called the Retreat in Laguna. Normally we go to San Diego or Palm Springs because we live in Orange County. I can now officially see why people from all over the globe travel to vacation in Laguna Beach.

The resort villas are like your own beautiful beachfront house. They are near everything - we parked our car and walked everywhere. It is a block away from the beach and our villa had an ocean view.

With a full gourmet kitchen, the first thing we did was go across the street to Ralph's and created a little gourmet picnic. We nibbled on that on the deck and watched the sunset - absolutely amazing.

The next morning we hit Orange Inn which is right on the corner for coffee and took a walk along the beach. Later we worked a bit (they have WiFi) then while sitting in beach chairs by the ocean. "Rough day at the office"

The Retreat is one of those vacations that actually leave you relaxed and re-energized. It is not really a party place because it is pretty quite and peaceful but there is still plenty to do.

Our trip was all about small bites, cocktails and art. We walked along the beach as far as we could, then up the hill to PCH and just explored.

    TIPS AND SUGGESTIONS:
    * Dining: The Rooftop Lounge at Casa Del Camino for sunset (if you can get in). K'ya for lobster mac and cheese, Rockin Fish, Watermarc, Nick's & Royal Hawaiian for $5 happy hour poke and a lapu lapu.

    * Pack comfortably with shoes for walking. (I mention that one from experience)

    * There was construction going on when we where there for the remodel of the other villas -should be done in a couple weeks. (just fyi)

    * Watch for the dolphins in the afternoon! They can also set up dolphin/whale watching tours or paddleboarding lessons.

    * There is nobody on site after 3 so if you need anything, make sure you set it up ahead of time.

    * The Laguna Art Walk is the First Thursday of every month.

    * They have a minimum stay of 3 days and you will probably need to book early during the summer.

  • Wow, what a memorable experience for my husband and I! First of all, the views of the ocean are jaw-dropping because the villas are pretty much sitting right on the water! The waves crashing outside your balcony and the views out to sea give you a real feeling of serenity and solitude. The rooms are perfectly designed - jewel boxes that maximize the incredible views, while providing a very comfortable, contemporary chic decor. The location is the epicenter to everything wonderful in Laguna; shopping, dining and art galleries.

After an exquisite evening out on the town, we would came back to the villa, dim the lights, open the balcony door and listen to the sounds of the ocean waves. It was truly a slice of heaven! The staff was exceptional, especially Natasha, who was very gracious in her desire to make every element of our stay perfect.

We will recommend this gem to our friends, family and stay here again ourselves.
