What is The Retreat in Laguna?

Because we care,
We need you to know,
WE ARE NOT A HOTEL.

We are a luxury class vacation rental property in the heart of town.
So… You cannot buy $16.00 martinis
You can however place all the beverages you can drink in your full kitchen.
You simply cannot pay $25.00 per night for parking plus tip to the valet.
We’re afraid that’s all free.
You cannot pay up to $40.00 per day as a “resort fee.”
As we not only don’t charge it… frankly we don’t know what it is.
You cannot pay a fortune morning, noon, and night for hotel food.
Sorry… you can walk across the street to dozens of reasonably priced fine dining establishments, or stock your private villa from the grocery store conveniently located across the street.
You cannot depend on using your car to avoid being stuck on property.
Sorry… There are about a million things to see and do within walking distance. No driving necessary.
So, if you are looking for hotel inconvenience and high costs…
Well, we just can’t help you!

 

Seriously though…  What are you?

The Retreat in Laguna is a luxury vacation rental property.

 

What does that mean for me?

It means that we provide one-bedroom villas with full kitchens, comfortable and luxurious beds, 42″ TVs, TVs in your bedroom, and high speed internet access.  All at no additional cost.  Everything we provide is built into your basic rate, except of course for any special requests like romance packages, massages, or us stocking your fridge with food before your arrival.

 

I’ve heard you’re a “health retreat” property, are you?

Laguna Beach is one of the world’s foremost destinations for healthy living and beautiful people.  While we are primarily a vacation rental property, we are the only luxury vacation rental property in the world that at your request can put you through a health retreat customized to your goals.  During your luxury vacation you can give your body a vacation by getting massages, drinking wheat grass, going on a juice fast, meditating, doing yoga, and exercising, all with our professional team of health experts.  For an additional fee we will plan your entire trip, show you what is possible, and hold your hand through what is to some a life-changing experience.  Our primary goals on this plan are to help you raise your energy levels, lose weight, educate you on nutrition, and recenter your mind and body.  Contact us for more information on this package.

 

Can I smoke on property?

While we respect that some people enjoy a cigar or cigarette once in a while, we do not allow smoking on our property at all as it is disrespectful to our current and future guests.  Any incident of smoking on property, or evidence of it in your unit, will incur a $250 fee.

 

Do you allow dogs?

We do allow dogs, in specific units, on a case by case basis.  If your dog is shorter than 18″ standing and weighs less than 20 lbs. we will probably say yes.  No animals other than dogs are allowed.

 

What’s the deal with your shared deck?

We have a shared ocean-view deck that has chaise lounges, umbrellas, and a couch.  It is a wonderful place to lay out and relax.

 

Can I BBQ on the property?

There are 3 shared barbecues on property that can be used anytime from 9 AM to 9:30 PM.

 

Is there a parking fee?

If you’ve been to Laguna before you know that parking comes at a premium.  We like to think that we are a high-class property and therefore do not try to charge you $25.00 per night for parking.  Parking is included in your stay.

 

How does parking work?

The Retreat allows 8 cars to be parked on property at any one time – 1 car per Villa.  No SUVs, Trucks, or other large vehicles will be allowed to park on property.  However, we do allow parking for larger vehicles and your guests at our offsite lot located a one minute walk away.  Each Villa gets 1 space on property, and 1 space in our overflow lot.  All vehicles MUST display a parking pass provided to you upon check-in at all times or be subject to tow.  If you require a third, extra space it is available in our overflow lot at a cost of $15.00 per night.

 

Can you stock my villa with groceries/vodka/flowers/jello before I arrive?

We can stock your villa with anything you request prior to your arrival.  These requests will be charged to the card on file for the cost of the item, plus an additional fee from $25-$150 depending on the complexity of the request. For example, buying you one or two items from one location is a simple request. Grocery shopping takes a bit more time and care. Arranging to have flowers, chocolates, groceries, and a violinist would be on the higher end.

 

Is there a housekeeping service?

We are not a hotel and therefore do not have a housekeeping staff, however, we can provide additional cleaning “refresh” service.  The cost for this service is $65 per refresh.  This includes a full cleaning, plus new linens and towels.

 

Are linens and towels provided?

Linens and towels are provided.  Each villa is provided clean linens, plus an extra set for the futon or sofa bed.  Towels are provided at the beginning of your stay, you will receive (4) beach towels, (8) shower towels, (4) wash cloths, and (4) hand towels.  A towel refresh service is available for a $15 fee.

 

Is there a washer and dryer?

There are two washers and two dryers on-site.  They are available for your use to the left of the office.  Please be courteous to other guests and only use them between the hours of 9 AM and 9 PM.  Detergent is available at the Ralphs grocery store across the street.

 

Is there a damage deposit?

We hold your valid Visa, Amex, or Mastercard on file in lieu of a damage deposit. If damage is found or an items is missing it will be charged to this card. If you pay by check or cash an $800 damage deposit is due before check-in, and if everything is found to be in order it will be mailed to you upon check-out.

 

Can I bring over my family/friends/neighbors?

We welcome your guests as our guests, and in keeping with safety regulations for all of our guests there is a maximum occupancy of 8 guests per unit at any time. Each unit has sleeping accommodations for 4, no more than 4 may spend the night in any villa.
